We are thrilled to announce a special issue in the Energy Efficiency journal (edited by Springer Nature), which will feature selected works from the Energy Evaluation Europe Conference 2025, taking place from 7–9 October 2025 in Berlin.

Conference participants who wish to publish their research are invited to submit their work for consideration in this special issue. This provides a unique platform to extend the impact of your research, reaching a global audience of researchers, policymakers, and industry professionals.

To apply, visit the Energy Evaluation Europe Conference 2025 Call for Abstracts page, submit your abstract, and select the option for the Special Issue. The submission deadline is December 16, 2024.

We look forward to receiving your contributions!

Topics:

The special issue is dedicated to advancing the field of energy policy and program evaluation, highlighting innovative research, case studies, and practical methodologies. We welcome submissions on the evaluation of energy policies and programs, in particular, including, but not limited to, those in the following areas:

  • Artificial Intelligence and other innovative methods: Applying AI tools to improve evaluation and evaluation management.
  • Energy Poverty and Social impact: Evaluating the role of energy policies in addressing energy poverty, promoting social equity, and supporting just transitions for impacted communities.
  • Behavioral Insights in Energy Programs: Using behavioral science to evaluate and enhance program outcomes related to energy-saving actions.
  • Impact Evaluation of Policies and Programs: Measuring the real-world effects of energy policies on energy consumption, emissions, economic outcomes and other impacts.
  • Cost-Effectiveness and Economic Impact: Evaluating the financial and economic aspects of energy policies and programs, including cost-benefit analyses and the potential to trigger additional investments.
  • Methods to disentangle policy impacts in complex policy environment:  analyzing policy mechanisms and interactions in policy packages or program portfolios; evaluations in rapidly changing contexts.
  • Evaluation use and communication: innovative approaches to increase evaluation use in policymaking or in program revision; evidence about whether and how evaluation results have been used and identifying success factors for effective evaluation use; innovative approaches to communicate evaluation results to contribute to informed policy debates.

Why Submit?

  • Broad Dissemination: Publishing in the Springer Energy Efficiency journal enables your research to reach a wider, global readership beyond conference attendees.
  • Professional Credibility: Your work will be featured in a respected, peer-reviewed journal, elevating the profile of your research.
  • Meaningful Impact: Share your insights to help shape best practices and inform energy and climate policy. For example, only papers published in peer-reviewed journals (such as Energy Efficiency) are considered in the reviews done by the IPCC. By publishing in Energy Efficiency, your work can grow the evidence base for the next IPCC reports.
