Special issue in the Energy Efficiency Journal

The partnership with Springer Nature continues for the 2027 conference:

A special issue will be prepared for the Energy Efficiency journal, with a selection of papers presented at the Energy Evaluation Europe Conference 2027, taking place on 6-8 October 2027 in Tallinn, Estonia, at TalTech – Tallinn University of Technology.

Authors submitting an abstract to present a peer-reviewed paper at Energy Evaluation Europe 2027 can apply for this special issue. They can indicate this in the online submission form, by simply ticking the box referring to the special isssue.

For more details about the conference, see HERE.

For more details about the call for abstracts and related guidelines, see HERE.

How and when are papers selected for the special issue?

Authors will be invited to submit their paper to the special issue from the results of the evaluations of the abstracts. Authors will receive by email the result about their abstract by 17th of February, 2027.

Abstracts are reviewed by the conference committee. About the selection for the special issue, committee members consider notably the following criteria:

  • Clear methodology
  • Originality of the research / evaluation work
  • Relevance of the topic and results

How will the submission and review process be managed for the papers of the special issue?

There will be a single process for the selected papers, so that they can be published in both, the conference proceedings, and the journal.

An intermediate version of the selected papers (after the first round of review) can be published in the conference proceedings.

The selected papers will go through the usual review process of the journal, managed with the Springer Nature platform. Authors will receive by email short guidelines for submitting their paper on this platform, selecting the special issue. The first version of the papers will be due by 30 March 2027.

The selected papers can then be published in the journal once they are approved by the guest editors, based on reviewers’ comments (which may imply several rounds of reviews).

Please note that the reviewers may also suggest rejecting a paper: the invitation to the special issue does not guarantee that a paper will be published in the journal.

What template to use for your paper?

Authors will receive the conference template when getting the result about their abstract. This template can be used for submitting the paper to the Springer-Nature platform.

The journal does not require a particular layout, as the layout of the paper is done by Springer-Nature once a paper is approved for publication in the journal. Therefore authors can use the same template as for papers submitted to the conference only. This way, the intermediate version of the paper can easily be published in the proceedings of the conference.

Papers submitted to the special need to meet the requirements of the journal. See the journal guidelines here: https://link.springer.com/journal/12053/submission-guidelines
