EEAP Webinar # 16- Insights from IEA’s 2024 Energy Efficiency Report and Energy Efficiency Progress Tracker

The International Energy Agency (IEA) plays a critical role in shaping global energy policies related to sustainability and climate change through its research, data collection, and policy recommendations. By highlighting the importance of transitioning to low-carbon technologies, the IEA influences how countries develop their energy strategies. Its initiatives encourage collaboration among member nations to implement effective policies that reduce emissions while enhancing overall energy security. This holistic approach positions the IEA as a key player in addressing climate change challenges on a global scale.

IEA’s has a partnership with the ten countries that make up the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) – Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR), Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam. The relationship between the Agency and this region was strengthened in October 2024 with the opening in Singapore of an IEA Regional Cooperation Centre. This is the first IEA office outside its Paris headquarters.

IEA’s Energy Efficiency 2024 report, published in November 2024, explores trends in energy efficiency across regions, sectors, and technologies. In parallel, the IEA launched a new Energy Efficiency Progress Tracker, offering policymakers the most up-to-date information on key energy efficiency indicators across various regions.

In this webinar, evaluators will learn about these two major IEA reports that policymakers and other stakeholders should know about for developing, implementing and evaluating energy programs and policies in the Asia Pacific Region.
