The global transition to clean energy offers significant opportunities to create new economic pathways, strengthen livelihoods, improve health and safety, and enhance quality of life, particularly in emerging and developing economies. However, realizing these benefits requires policies, financing mechanisms, and interventions that intentionally integrate gender equality and social inclusion.
In many large-scale energy investments, just-transition ambitions remain limited, while gender-responsive and inclusive outcomes are insufficiently incorporated into programme design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. This creates a persistent gap between stated ambitions and tangible, measurable impacts. Challenges occur across the energy value chain and affect consumers, suppliers, distributors, workers, and communities differently.
This webinar will explore results-based approaches to gender-just energy transitions, drawing on practical experience. It will examine the business case for gender-responsive and inclusive energy transitions and consider how climate finance can support interventions that reduce emissions, strengthen resilience, and deliver measurable environmental and socio-economic benefits.
The session will also discuss how evaluation frameworks and tools can help policymakers, financial institutions, development partners, and other stakeholders identify and address gender equality and social inclusion gaps. By generating credible evidence on what works, for whom, and under what conditions, evaluation can strengthen accountability, improve decision-making, and build sustained institutional and financial commitment to equitable energy transitions.
