FIJI and PACIFIC ISLANDS COUNTRIES AND TERRITORIES – Monica Wabuke

"With good evaluation, in 10 years we would have learned what is working, what is not working and why and develop better systems to manage and advance renewable energy"

Monica Wabuke is a Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) specialist with more than 10 years’ experience leading and conducting thematic evaluations in Africa, Asia and the Pacific. Currently, She is a MEL Team Leader and Advisor for the Geoscience, Energy and Maritime Division within the Pacific Community Secretariat (SPC) based in Fiji Islands. One of her roles is to commission and conduct evaluations for the Energy Programme within the Pacific Island Countries and Territories (PICTS).
Evaluation helps us take a step back and make sense of our results and through an iterative process, help us learn in order to improve programming. For this to happen, evaluation has to be seen holistically within the project management cycle and not as an end of project piece of work.

Embedding learning within our evaluation initiatives helps us be aware of our work, what results we are achieving or not and jolt us to improve our interventions based on evidence.
